W06 Insight Sharing: Sharing It! - New Testament (09/6/2025)
Introduction: Learning from the Savior's Final Teachings
As I studied the New Testament scriptures from this week, focusing on Matthew 25-26, Mark 14, Luke 22, and John 13-18, I felt deeply moved by the Savior's final lessons and His example of ultimate love and sacrifice. These chapters contain some of the most profound teachings of Jesus Christ, given just before His suffering in Gethsemane and His crucifixion. They remind us of the importance of being spiritually prepared, living lives of humble service, and drawing strength from the Savior's infinite atonement. In this blog, I want to share the scripture accounts that touched me most, a quote from a modern leader that increased my understanding, a personal experience that relates to these lessons, and finally, my testimony of Jesus Christ's redeeming love.
Prepared for the Lord's Coming: The Parable of the Ten Virgins (Matthew 25)
In Matthew 25, the Savior shares the parable of the ten virgins as a reminder of the importance of spiritual preparation. Five of the virgins were wise and brought extra oil for the lamps, while the other five were foolish and unprepared when the bridegroom came. This story teaches that each of us must have our own "oil" of faith, testimony, and righteous living. Just as no one could share their oil, no one else can build our testimony for us. This reminds me that daily devotion through prayer, scripture study, and service fills my lamp, so I will be ready when the Savior comes again. It motivates me to live in a way that is always spiritually prepared, not just relying on occasional effort. The parable inspires me to be consistent and steady in my faith, even when preparation feels "small" or unnoticed. It is a reminder that the Savior values consistent effort over time far more than last-minute scrambling.
The Sacrament and Christ's Willingness to Suffer (Matthew 26 and Mark 14)
Both Matthew 26 and Mark 14 record the Savior instituting the sacrament at the Last Supper, inviting His disciples to remember His body and blood. Soon after, He entered Gethsemane, where He prayed in agony and willingly took upon Himself the sins, pains, and sorrows of the world. These moments testify to the depth of His love for us and the central place of His atonement in our lives. Each time I take the sacrament, I can renew my covenants and feel His redeeming power in my heart. I am reminded that He was willing to suffer because of His love for me personally, and because of that, I can find comfort and healing through Him. It is humbling to think that during His time of greatest suffering, His thoughts were turned outward toward blessing others. This makes me feel a greater responsibility to live worthily of His sacrifice and honor it through my daily actions.
An Example of Service: Jesus Washing the Disciples' Feet (John 13)
John 13 shares a powerful example of humility and discipleship when Jesus washes the feet of His disciples. Despite being the Son of God, He chose to kneel and serve in one of the lowliest ways possible. He then taught them to follow His example, serving one another with pure love. This story teaches me that discipleship is shown in quiet, often unnoticed acts of kindness and service. True greatness is found in humility, not power. I feel inspired to look for small ways each day to serve others, whether in my family, my community, or among my friends. It reminds me that service does not require wealth or status, only a willing heart. By following His example, I can better reflect the attributes of Christ and share His love with others.
Peace Through the Savior's Promises (John 14-47, Luke 22)
In both John 14-47 and Luke 22, the Savior comforts His disciples, promising the gift of the Holy Ghost, offering prayer for their unity, and providing assurance that He has "overcome the world." These passages bring peace to my soul because they show that the Savior knew His disciples would face fear, trial, and opposition, yet He reminded them they would never be alone. In my life, I have felt the Spirit bring peace in overwhelming moments, reminding me that Christ is near and that He has already conquered every sorrow and fear I face. These promises help me to walk forward in faith, even when situations seem beyond my control. They remind me that no matter how dark a season may feel, the Savior's light is stronger. His words reassure me that peace is not just the absence of problems, but the presence of His Spirit in every circumstance. That kind of peace sustains me in every challenge I face.
General Conference Quote
President Russel M. Nelson once taught, "Because of the Redeemer's infinite atonement, His gospel provides hope and help for every situation, no matter how difficult or despairing." This quote reminds me that no burden, sin, or weakness is beyond the Savior's reach. Even when I feel weak or uncertain, His atonement empowers me with courage, hope, and strength. These words help me trust His promises when life feels heavy or uncertain. I feel encouraged knowing that no trial is too personal or too painful for Him to understand. Remembering this makes me want to rely less on my own strength and more on His redeeming power.
Personal Experience: Peace in a Time of Uncertainty
When I faced an unexpected challenge last year that left me anxious and unsure of what the future would hold, I felt weighed down by fear. I didn't know how to move forward, and it seemed like no solution was in sight. During that time, I turned more earnestly to prayer and the scriptures. I also tried to serve others in small ways, even when I didn't feel like I had much to give. Slowly, I began to notice peace entering my heart. Just as the Savior promised His disciples that His peace would be with them, I felt His peace quiet my soul. Though my circumstances remained hard for a while, I was sustained by His strength and knew I did not walk alone. That experience deepened my trust that the Savior truly knows me personally. It also taught me that His peace can come even before my trials are fully resolved.
My Testimony: Jesus Christ, the Redeemer of the World
I know that Jesus Christ is the Living Son of God. He truly is the Bridegroom who will come again, and we must be prepared to meet Him with faith and righteousness. I know He knelt in Gethsemane and willingly took upon Himself every pain, sin, and weakness so that we can be forgiven, strengthened, and healed. He is the perfect example of humility and service, and through following Him, we can find joy and peace. His Spirit comforts and guides me in every uncertain moment. I bear witness that Jesus Christ is my Redeemer and the source of hope, and strength, and eternal life.
